Description

This rustic alpine hut in Sankt Lorenzen ob Murau, Styria, accommodates up to 8 guests and sits at 1,600 m in a small forest within the Frauenalpe hiking and touring ski area in the Murtal region. The hut features a cozy living room with a pellet stove, open fireplace, and tiled stove, a small kitchen, a bathroom, and two spacious bedrooms upstairs (one with a sofa bed, one with a stackable bed).

Access is via asphalt and gravel/meadow paths from Murau in summer (barrier key provided on arrival) or by a 10-minute walk from the Murauer Hütte parking lot in winter. Guests receive a guided briefing upon arrival.

The Frauenalpe, part of the Styrian Gurktal Alps, is Murau’s local mountain and a natural snow haven for ski tourers and snowshoe hikers. In winter, ski tours can start directly from the hut. The Kreischberg ski area, with 43 km of slopes and 12 lifts, is just 0.6 km from Murau.

In summer, the panoramic 8 km Frauenalpe road offers scenic viewpoints, and the Krakaudorf Badesee leisure complex provides swimming and recreation. Murau offers shops and restaurants for daily needs, making this alpine hut perfect for a peaceful nature getaway in all seasons.
