Location and access
Mölltaler Gletscher lies in northwestern Carinthia, close to the village of Flattach and the Hohe Tauern National Park. The resort is easy to reach via the A10 Tauern motorway towards Spittal an der Drau, then along scenic valley roads to Flattach.
Nearest airports: Klagenfurt (120 km) and Salzburg (170 km). Train connections are available via Spittal-Millstättersee, with bus service to the resort.
Ski area and altitude
The ski area ranges from 2,108 to over 3,000 metres, with 15 km of slopes.
A network of modern lifts, including the Mölltaler Gletscher Express, ensures quick access to the high alpine slopes. Freeriders can explore challenging off-piste terrain around the Schareck mountain, with breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks.
Snowpark, facilities and atmosphere
At the top of the glacier, a compact snowpark and funslope provide entertainment for freestyle riders and families alike. The atmosphere is calm and authentic – no crowds, no queues, just space to ski and relax. You’ll find cosy mountain huts with sun terraces, regional cuisine and a friendly welcome. Après-ski is low-key but full of charm.
Snow reliability and season
Thanks to its high altitude, Mölltaler Gletscher offers excellent snow reliability. The ski season usually runs from early October to late May, with additional snowmaking ensuring perfect conditions. With over 300 days of sunshine per year, this glacier is ideal for those who love blue skies and stunning mountain views.
Villages and accommodation
The main resort village is Flattach, just 8 km from the glacier base station. It offers a selection of hotels, guesthouses and self-catering chalets – many with a direct ski bus connection. Mallnitz, located nearby, is another lovely alpine village known for its peaceful setting and great access to winter hiking and cross-country trails.
