The Mayrhofen ski area is located in Tyrol, Austria. It is located at an altitude of 630 to 1,964 metres above sea level and is a very interesting area for skiers.

The mountains surrounding the ski area are called Ahorn, Penken and Rastkogel. They include the villages of Mayrhofen, Hippach and Ramsau.

The ski area has a total of 142 kilometres of slopes, including easy to difficult slopes. There are about 50 ski lifts, including gondolas, chairlifts and T-bar lifts. The ski area is part of the Zillertal 3000.

Aprés Ski in Mayrhofen is famous!

Apres ski is an important part of the ski culture in Austria and especially in Mayrhofen. After a day on the slopes, skiers and snowboarders can party and relax in the numerous bars, clubs and restaurants in the area. Most apres-ski venues are located directly in the ski resorts or in the surrounding villages, and they offer a wide range of music, drinks and food.

Some of the most famous apres-ski venues in Mayrhofen are the "Schneewirt", the "Stadl", the "Londoner" and the "Eck'8". Here you can dance, drink and party, often late into the night. There are also a number of concerts and events that regularly take place in the apres-ski scene.

Apres-ski in Mayrhofen is known for its exuberant and carefree atmosphere and is an important part of the skiing experience in this part of Austria.

Where in the Zillertal is Mountopolis located?

The 'Mountopolis' ski resort is located in the Zillertal in Tyrol, approximately 30 km from the Zillertal exit on the Inntal motorway. It is the ski area of the Mayrhofner Bergbahnen. Mayrhofen lies at the far end of the Zillertal. The mountains surrounding the resort are the Ahorn, Penken, Eggalm and Rastkogel. In summer it is a large amusement park.

The 'Mountopolis' ski resort in Mayrhofen in the Zillertal has a total of 142 kilometres of pistes. These slopes are divided into 44km of blue (easy), 70km of red (medium) and 28km of black (difficult) slopes.

How many ski lifts are there in the Mountopolis - Mayrhofen ski resort?

The Mountopolis ski resort in the Zillertal has a total of 45 ski lifts. There are 2 cable cars, 7 gondolas and several chair and tow lifts to get you to the slopes quickly.

Is there a snowpark?

Yes! The snowpark Penkenpark is located in the Mountopolis ski area on the Penken mountain. Snowboarders and freeskiers will find everything here! Five perfectly groomed lines, the Pro Area, Advanced Area, Medium Area, MediumJib Area and KidsPark make for a fantastic winter sports holiday.

Is the Mountopolis ski resort snow reliable?

The Mountopolis ski area in Mayrhofen is considered snow-sure. The ski area stretches up to around 2,500 metres, where there is usually plenty of snow in winter. Access is via the Ahornbahn and the Penkenbahn.
​​​​​​​Most of the pistes are also equipped with modern snow cannons, which can quickly make enough snow when needed. If the snow leaves something to be desired, there is the Hintertuxer Glacier, a little further down the Zillertal.

Can I do cross country skiing?

You can also go cross-country skiing in the area, for example in Mayrhofen and Hippach, where there are around 33 km of trails. There are also many kilometres in the other resorts, such as Finkenberg.

Which bigger ski resort is Mountopolis part of?

Mountopolis is part of the big Zillertal 3000 ski area, which also includes the Hintertux Glacier, with more than 200 kilometres of slopes. The Zillertal is also home to the Zillertal Arena. There is truly no shortage of winter sports in this region.

Are there any ski schools in the area?

You can take ski lessons in any of the towns in the resort. Ski lessons are available for all levels. There are group lessons but you can also have private lessons if you wish. Snowboarding lessons are also available. If you prefer lessons in English, this is also possible in most places.

What kind of lift pass do I need for Mountopolis resort?

You have the choice of 2 ski passes. You can choose between the Mountopolis ski pass and the big Zillertal Superskipass.

The Mountopolis ski pass gives you access to the Ahorn, Penken, Rastkogel and Eggalm mountains, covering the entire Mayrhofen area. 

The Zillertal Super Ski Pass is valid in all major ski areas (Hochzillertal - Hochfügen, Zillertal Arena, Zillertal 3000 in the Zillertal). This pass is also valid at Mountopolis/Mayrhofner Bergbahnen.

Are there free ski buses?

Yes, winter sports enthusiasts in possession of a valid ski pass can use the ski buses to and from the valley stations, the Zillertaler Verkehrsbetriebe buses and the Green Line between Mayrhofen and Hintertux free of charge.

Is there a downhill run to Mayrhofen?

Yes, you can from the Ahorn. It is not possible to descend from the other mountains.

Can I go ski touring at Mayrhofen?

You can definitely go on long ski tours here. From Mayrhofen you can make wonderful ski tours to Gerlos, Konigsleiten or Zell im Zillertal.

The mountains of Mayrhofen in the summer

In summer, the Mayrhofen ski area also offers a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, climbing, paragliding and rafting. There are also several lakes in the area for swimming and fishing. There are numerous events such as the famous Zillertal Bike Festival, the Mayrhofner Mountain Festival and the Zillertal Adventure Festival. You can also visit the Zillertal Adventure Park, an amusement park for the whole family.

There are several museums in the area around Mayrhofen. One of them is the local history museum in Hippach, which shows the history and culture of the region. There is also the Wooden House Museum, which presents an exhibition on traditional wooden architecture and craftsmanship in Tyrol. Another museum is the Zillertal Farmers' Theatre Museum, which focuses on the history and tradition of farmers' theatre in the Zillertal.
