Hohentauern is located in the heart of Styria and is a wonderful area to combine long mountain hikes and other sports trips with culture and relaxation. The Gesäuse National Park and the Kalkalpen National Park are in the immediate vicinity, a nice excursion destination is Admont Abbey. You can play golf in Pichlarn (approx. 40 km) or in the Murtal (approx. 40 km).
The ski lift to the well-known and traditional family ski area Ski Hohentauern with 11 kilometers of slopes is in the immediate vicinity.
Summer is best known for the many lakes, thermal baths and the impressive Hohe Tauern mountain range. The more than 200 days of sunshine per year and the snow-sure ski area make this area a perfect holiday region at any time of the year.

We enjoyed our stay in Hohetauern. We were kindly assisted at the reception. The apartment was very comfortable with two bathrooms, one of which is adjacent to the bedroom. The bathrooms were perfect and the showers were delightful. The inventory was very complete (except for a kettle). Unfortunately, the road is clearly audible with the windows in ventilation mode. The sofa in the living room is a sofa bed, so it could be suitable for more than 4 people? The surroundings are lovely and there were plenty of activities in the area for young and old. Among other things, zip-lining, a visit to Dr. Vogelgesang klamm (waterfall), Judenburg, the Dachstein Glacier, the brewery in Murau, and the Admont Monastery Library. A week goes by quickly with all that.

The location is beautiful, but in hindsight, I would have preferred a cabin instead of an apartment,

Nice apartment, clean and nicely furnished,.Location is a bit noisy when the windows are open because of the road that runs along it, but beautiful views.
