The Hochzeiger ski area is situated at an altitude of 1,450 to 2,500 metres and is virtually snow-sure from December to the end of April. Up to 90% of the pistes are above 2,000 metres.
Austria's steepest run, the Zirbenfall (80% incline), is located here. The Benni Raich Abfahrt (Olympic champion) is also a tough black run.
The Snowpark Hochzeiger is located above the middle station at an altitude of 2,250 m. The area can be reached quickly by the gondola lift and the Rotmoos chair lift. The snowpark offers great freestyle action for snowboarders and freeskiers with different elements and levels of difficulty. It is suitable for both beginners and experienced winter sports enthusiasts. The snowpark is prepared daily.
Hochzeiger offers a free bambini ski pass for children up to the age of ten.
There are also discounted ski passes for children aged 10 to 15 and special rates for teenagers. The Young Family Ski Pass allows families with children under the age of 3 who are not yet skiing to purchase discounted ski passes.
Children up to the age of 6 can visit Pitzis Kinderland. There are several conveyor belts, all kinds of child-friendly equipment and lots of games. Lots of fun and action for the little ones!
A 6km natural toboggan run offers fun and variety. There is also an illuminated toboggan run every Thursday evening. Up to date information is available at the lift ticket office at the valley station ....
There are no cross-country trails in the Hochzeiger ski area itself, but there are plenty in the surrounding area: Pitztal has around 70 kilometres of groomed trails.
There are several ski and snowboard schools in the area. All ages and levels are catered for. You can usually choose between group or private lessons. Of course you can also rent skis and other winter sports equipment from the various ski hire shops in Pitztal.
Ski buses run several times a day from all the villages in the Pitztal valley to the Hochzeiger ski area. With a valid ski pass you can use the bus free of charge.
